Platelet rich plasma (PRP)
PRP therapy involves harvesting platelets from the patient’s own blood and either inject or needle them into problem skin areas. Starting with the extraction of a minimal amount of blood which, is then placed in a centrifuge that spins down the blood separating the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma.
Platelets contain a high content of, “growth factors”-proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin. The platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to proliferate.
PRP therapy boosts fibroblasts and induces collagen production and elastin, the formation of new cells, improvement in skin elasticity, and achieves a more youthful and beautiful glow.
